Description
UPC Wiki is a free product catalog of retail goods which are identified using UPC/EAN barcodes. Built collaboratively using Wiki software.
Things to know before using the site
- There are two special namespaces called Product and Company.
- Article titles in these namespaces are derived from the barcode digits.
- Most product articles use the EAN-13 standard, and have 13 digits. Example: Product:0086279001016
- Most company articles use the first 7 digits from the EAN-13 standard. Example: Company:0086279
- In the United States, the UPC barcode standards are the most common. These are 11 or 12 digits in length for a UPC-A barcode, and 7 or 8 digits for a UPC-E barcode.
- If you have 12 digits, you can figure out the EAN-13 barcode by prefixing the country code. For the United States, this prefix is the number 0.
- When making a brand new page, the EAN-13 barcode is preferable if available.
- Templates are available to generate barcode images.
